A Brief History
The Type 22 frigates, better known as the Broadsword class, were originally designed for anti-submarine warfare during the Cold War.
Over time, they evolved into highly capable general-purpose warships, serving across the globe in a wide range of operations.
Fourteen ships were built for the Royal Navy, with the final vessel, HMS Cornwall, decommissioned in 2011.

Shipmate Support and Wellbeing - Our 22 Safety Net
Life after service affects everyone differently, and no one should ever feel they’re dealing with challenges or low times alone. This is OUR association, OUR friendship group.
Being a Type 22 Association member means we have all signed up to supporting each other, our veterans, our friends, especially during times when old memories resurface or life ashore becomes overwhelming.
Whether it’s a message chat, a conversation started, speaking to someone who understands, getting advice, or simply knowing where to turn HELPS, support is alway available. ALWAYS.

Op COURAGE is an NHS mental health specialist service designed to help serving personnel due to leave the military,
reservists, armed forces veterans and their families.
If you are aware of any groups or trained mentors who should be included here, please contact us so we can add them and ensure all shipmates have access to the help they may need.
